China Growth Lead — Technical Business Development & Partnerships

Shanghai
Full-time
Permanent employee

Our mission

At Electrogenos, we are building technology to make green hydrogen competitive at scale. We focus on reducing the cost and complexity of hydrogen production so it can replace fossil-based alternatives across real-world applications. We move fast, operate with high ownership, and turn strategy into execution.

About The Role

This is an early-career role for a technically strong, ambitious person who wants to help build
Electrogenos' presence in China — the most important hydrogen manufacturing and
deployment ecosystem in the world. You will be our person on the ground in Shanghai, working
as an extension of the CEO, CTO, and Head of Technical Growth.

You will not be expected to know everything on day one. You will be expected to learn fast, take
ownership, and grow into the role. You will have full backing from our technical and operational
teams, daily integration with the core team, and a clear path to grow into a senior China
leadership position as the company scales.

We will launch your work through our participation in the Plug and Play China Cross-Border
Acceleration Camp, giving you a strong platform, brand recognition, and a built-in network from
day one. Accommodation in Nantong is covered for the first six months while you are based at
the programme. After that, the role is based in Shanghai.

Tasks

● Identify, assess, and build relationships with Chinese electrolyser manufacturers, component and BoP suppliers, engineering firms, and hydrogen project developers
● Use your technical background to help evaluate potential technology collaboration and
manufacturing partners — judging who is the right fit
● Begin advancing our manufacturing readiness in China — mapping suppliers, identifying
potential contract manufacturers, and laying the early groundwork for our scale-up
footprint
● Identify commercial opportunities: pilots, PoCs, supply agreements, and strategic
partnerships
● Support conversations with government officials, industrial parks, and programme
stakeholders around subsidies, incentives, and JV structures
● Represent Electrogenos through the Plug and Play China programme and convert that
platform into concrete relationships
● Prepare structured analyses, partner assessments, and recommendations for the
leadership team
● Work as a fully integrated extension of the core team — sharing learnings, opportunities,
and decisions in real time

Essential Skills

● A technical background in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or
related — typically a master's or PhD from a strong technical university
● 1–3 years of post-graduate experience at a Chinese electrolyser manufacturer, hydrogen
project developer, or industrial firm in a related sector (batteries, fuel cells, power
electronics, advanced manufacturing). Recent PhD graduates with strong relevant
research backgrounds will also be considered
● Native Mandarin and strong English
● Commercial instinct: someone who can build relationships, spot opportunities in a
conversation, and think like an operator, not just an engineer
● High ownership mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and a bias toward action
● Sound judgement on confidentiality and IP

Desirable Skills

● Study or work experience abroad (海归 or international internship/research stint)
● Exposure to commercial or business development work alongside technical training
● Familiarity with Chinese industrial parks, government programmes, or accelerator
ecosystems
